Winter Safety and Health Tips

Winter is knocking at the door but are you ready to face all the challenges and hazards that it brings along with it?  Merritt Island Land Rover, your trusted new and used Land Rover Range Rover car dealer in Merritt Island, Florida, would like to share the following quick tips that will help you to get prepared for the cold days ahead.
· Check your HVAC system and if needed, service it professionally to make sure it is in proper working condition. Install a smoke detector and check the batteries every month. In case your HVAC system doesn’t work as it should, keep alternate heating sources and fuel readily available. Install a carbon dioxide detector that can alert you in case the gas is present as it’s odorless, colorless and otherwise quite deadly.
· Winterize your home by installing storm windows, weather stripping, insulation etc. Keep the gutters clean and ensure no leakage is there.
· Keep enough non-perishable and canned foods stored in case you’re stuck indoors due to weather-related emergencies.
· Wear enough warm clothes if the temperature drops to below-normal temperatures. Avoid travelling when the weather service has issued advisories.
· Like you, your car also needs some extra care and protection for winter. Remember to service your car to maintain antifreeze levels, check the radiator, tire thread and replace worn wiper blades.
· An emergency winter kit in your car can be handy in case you become stranded. Include food, water, blankets, a first-aid kit, flashlight, compass, extra batteries and a flashlight in your kit.

Winter is inevitable; however, by following these simple tips, you and your family will be better prepared when it arrives.
